Edit: Company has actually very bad reviews, so I decided to delete it, don't want to be responsible ;)

As for me haveing the phone already, I could always sell it on Ebay, I'm looking for decent contract deal anyway, my current one ends September.

I contacted Orange and told them I was going to leave them and they sorted the phone, 600 minutes and unlimited text and 500Mb internet for £17.50 per month on a 2 year contract.

Received the phone today and have no idea how it works... and that's where this forum will hopefully come in!!!

Looks really OK, I'm on O2 now, and if I renew the contract they will limit my data to 500 MB. Should be OK anyway, but I don't like downgrades ;)
Plus it look like I would have to pay for the phone if I renew the £30 contract. Been with buymobilephones in the past on full cashback contract and it worked really well, so I might give it a go if O2 will not match the offer :-)

thx

this looks cheaper, but web is limited to 500 MB http://www.e2save.com/mobile-phone/contract/samsung/Samsung-Galaxy-S.html?tariffcode=D25TEAPR09&PHPSESSID=p2dnggu1c7ipm21l5110jhuje2

2 yr contract.....ouch.

I can't imagine just how much phones will have changed in two years.......

Who am I kidding.... of course I can. Phones will have pummelled the current gen into last year in 6 months, never mind 24 months. I pity you in March 2011 :)

I pity myself for getting into an 18 month contract, getting harder to find a good 12 month one and I think 24 months will be the norm soon

Just hoping something better doesn't grab my eye too soon otherwise I'll have to get myself locked up and by the time I get out mobile phones will not exist any more :D

I pity you in March 2011 :)

Let see, March 2011 this is iPhone 5, Steve said that 3.5" is enough, so it will have 1080p resolution allowing to watch it through a microscope, an almost true multitasking and ability to make uninterrupted phonecalls, not that much change mate ;-)

You forgot; Finally able to do video calls over 3g but still only to other iphone 5 phones :)

It seems to be PAYG/Simfree all the way these days :(

I will *never* enter an 18 month contract. Simply too long a lock in.

I was going to upgrade from my Tocco Ultra to Galaxy s with o2. They wanted £40 off me for 600 xnet mins, ulmt text and ulmt net with a 24month contract. I told them to basically get stuffed. They had only gone and stopped the loyalty discount. I was due £20 off a month. I had £15 off a month with my TU.

So I went to Orange through Dialaphone and got the same deal for £27.50 a month 24m contract. I dont mind the 24 months to be honest. Dialphone upgrade upto 90 days before end of contract I think.

I got my Galaxy S from Phones 4U online. I got it for free on Orange Dolphone 35, where i get 500 Xmins, 3000 TXT and 500mb data with unlimited email for £ 27.50 per month on an 18 month contract. By doing it online, phones 4u take £7.50 per month of the usual £ 35.00 charge, so not too shabby i think?

18 month, 1gb data, unlimited txt, 400 minutes and free phone... £25pm

hi kjfourfive, this is actually my first post here.
Just waiting for Orange retentions to get back to me as the Galaxy is out of stock atm.
I am definitely getting the galaxy s, been offered a 15pounds/pm 24 month contract 400 mins unlimited text+landline+data or 17.50pounds/pm same but 800 mins. but both paying 100pounds upfront for the phone.

I'd hate myself to get into a 24month contract and saw your post.
I was just wondering what price plan you were on before getting this orange upgrade?
its actually very similar to yours in terms of the overall money spent.

18x25 = 450 vs 24x15 +100 = 460

however your contract will finish half a year before mine!

Like a poster said earlier in the thread the 24 month contracts are now becoming the norm.

I have just got an upgrade with Orange (via retentions) for £18.50 a month (Inclusive of VAT but shall check my first bill on November 5th) which was the phone for free, 300 minutes, unlimited SMS and 500MB data (During course of last contract maximum used per month is 250 minutes, 700 SMS & 100MB data).

I could have got it on an 18 month contract but the handset would have cost me £150.00.

To be honest more than happy as my current contract is for £35.00 a month and as you will see from the usage above will be well in my limits taking into account my past 20 month usage (Touch wood with the data).

I'm with o2 through the Carphone Whorehouse, I get 250 mins any network (free calls to o2 users), 400 texts and one free bolt on for £10/month on a 12 month contract, as a loyalty deal. I chose the unlimited internet bolt on (which is 3GB/month so not exactly unlimited).

Of course I had to buy the handset separately, but I thought the decent mins, texts and net over such a short contract period outweighed the "handset included" deals at the time.

Out of interest how much was the handset Goots?

I actually bought a PAYG handset which was £400. The guy said as it was o2, there was a "compulsory" £10 top up needed, but when I explained why I wanted the handset, he gave me a 4GB memory card instead.

When I got home and worked it all out, the phone was £400 and the contract is £120 over the course of a year. Total spent = £520.

But when I looked at the monthly deals available at the time, the closest one was 24months @ £35/month. Over the same period mine works out as £26/month. And none of the available ones had unlimited net.

Ah okay.........that makes my 24 month contract look good then at £444.00 for the whole 24 month period however I did get a loyalty deal from Orange and of course after 12 months you are free to move on whereas I am tied in for 24 months (Actually you can upgrade 21 months but the extra 3 months goes onto your next contract) so really a 'swings and roundabout scenario'.

Yeah they all have good and bad points.

One of the major selling points for me (other than the short contract time) is that the rest of my family are on o2 so it's free to call them :)

Likewise with my 'Magic Numbers' on Orange plus no matter what people say I have found that Orange give me the best coverage where I live in the South West albeit their Customer Services leave a lot to be desired
