The link you posted was a tutorial on how to update the i9000, not the i9003.

1) Can you get into download mode?
How to put Galaxy S in Download mode:
Turn off the phone
Press and hold Volume down+, Home+ & Power button, keep held until a yellow triangle appears.

If you can get into download mode then you can still flash new firmware and recover the phone.

2) sign up to Samfirmware.com and go Toolbox > Firmware > FW Android > i9003
This will then bring up a list of available firmwares that will work with your phone. You can also find guides on how to flash via Odin.

If you get a jig and it works and it gets you into downlaod mode...sign up to samfirwmare.com and download the appropriate software for your device and flash it using Odin. Samfirmware have all the guides you need.

2) sign up to Samfirmware.com and go Toolbox > Firmware > FW Android > i9003
