: Why was this phone launched with all the bugs?

The Galaxy S2 seems to have all the hype without the reality. Yet another Android phone that falls down. The latest issue is it losing all Diary data i.e. not syncing with Google calendar, which it promised to do. There are plenty of threads on various forums, including Google, relating to the same issue but no one from Samsung seems to be interested.

Anyone any suggestions before I return this phone yet again for another i-phone?

Not a bug for me, nor probably for many others since you have no other replies. Mine syncs perfectly - can add, edit and delete items either in Google or on the phone and they are immediately synced. Nothing is making you stay with the phone, your loss.

The Galaxy S II is certainly not unique in being a new device with a few teething issues. Remember the iPhone 4's various high profile issues after launch? That's the price you pay for getting the latest technology as soon as it launches. A few firmware upgrades later and all will be well (have you the latest firmware?). I always get the previous generation - I got a Galaxy S in January and it was quite mature at that point and now - a few more updates later - it is flawless for me. And significantly cheaper!

If you're not the type to tinker and resolve such issues (as it is evidently not universal to all S2's) then by all means get an iPhone. Predictable, tightly controlled and IMHO mind-numbingly dull as a result. Horses for courses as they say...

funnily enough i got this same problem two days ago, In the morning my calendar entries were there and when i looked later they were all gone. I managed to find a fix for it elsewhere, no idea why it happened or if it will hapen again but basically to fix the problem go to settings, applications, manage applications, select the box at the top saying "All" then scroll down and select calendar storage, then clear data. Exit out of this and when you re sync with google calendar all of your entries will be back.
It is strange that this bug seems to only have appeared recently, wonder why.
Anyway hopefully this fixes it for you now and some future fix will prevent it reocurring.

It's nice to know that you have no problems, but you should try to be more helpful.

I think they were only pointing out that its not a universal problem
