This issue does have a partial workaround, which is better than nothing:

If your iTunes files miss their tags on your Galaxy, check Android Market for "MediaFix"

MediaFix Blog (http://www.gorgonloop.eu/2011/06/i-released-update-to-mediafix-last.html?showComment=1309646825269#c3082346931252 857070)

However, that won't fix embedded album art in M4A files.

PowerAMP can read M4A tags, cause it uses its own tag scanner. However, it doesn't have its own library system but relies on Android's library system, so even if it reads your tags, if you try to use the library in it, all your songs are still lumped into a giant clump of "unknown" music.

MediaFix only reads artist tags and then sneaks them into Android's media database, which does help a lot.

If we all start posting to the relevant Android bug posts and Samsung support (cause M4A support was an SGS2 advertised feature), maybe someone will fix it for real.

This bug in the Android media library/scanning subsystem has been posted to the Android team in 2009 already, and they still haven't fixed it...

If anyone knows any fixes to this issue, I'd love to hear about it!

I know this is an old thread, but thankyou for posting this, this is exactly what I was looking for! I've been searching for the past few days and haven't found any other real workarounds/solutions unfortunately.
