I have been trying to transfer contacts from Sony Xperia to Samsung Galaxy S via bluetooth without success. Firstly for some reason the Sony says its connected but Samsung says its paired but not connected. What does that mean?

When I beam out of Sony Xperia I can see Samsung receiving - the number count at top left. However the receiving stops before all the contacts are received. I even tried with just one contact instead of whole phone book but it shows the receiving action at top left but nothing shows in phone book and an receipt error icon comes at the top.

What do I need to do?

Any idea what format you Xperia is trying to send contacts?

Can you connect your Xperia up to your PC and save your contacts to PC as a .csv file? You can then import all of them onto your SGS using Kies :)
