hi all

I just got a new Samsung Galaxy S2 and am trying to check if it is possible to connect it with a LCD projector. I have a projector, which does not have HDMI in, it has VGA port only.
Has anybody got an experience in this matter?

Many Thanks

Dariusz

Connecting the two would be very tricky.
The SGS2 outputs only digital video signal - via the MHL HDMI adapter.
Your projector's VGA input port is analogue.
So your only hope would be an expensive ~£100 converter box like an HD-Fury.
Even then, your projector may not accept the resulting VGA signal.

WRONG

buy this adapter: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/bizlink-mhl-to-vga-tv-out-adapter-black-p29960.htm from mobile fun. you will need to plug your charger into it for it to work. and don't forget sound will have to be connected to the mini Jack ( headphone ) socket to a sound system ( surround sound etc )

Ok, fair enough - this could do the job (if the projector supports 1920x1080p)
Not sure if this particular dongle would tell the SGS2 to keep the headphone output going (my hdmi one cuts headphone and uses hmdi audio)
Also this wont be out until the end of the year and there is no mention of price.

Just one question

That bitbuzz product has been discontinued. I too really want to be able to connect my galaxy s2 to a vga projector. I can't believe that there are not more options out there. This has to be a very popular request. The Ipad has a vga adapter so why not the galaxy. Please please can somebody find a vga adapter for the galaxy s2. I would go out and buy a galaxy tab 10.1 tomorrow if I could connect it to a vga projector. This seems like a no brainer. Please please please help. I need this functionality. If I don't get it soon I will have to go back to apple with my hat in my hand and purchase an Ipad 2, something I'd rather not have to do. There has to be a simple answer to this. Somebody above mentioned that the Galaxy will only output an analog signal. Perhaps this is so but how come there are plenty of TV out cables using RCA connectors. These must surely be analog are they not. So why is there a difficulty with VGA. I know it is an old connector type but not half as old as RCA. Surely there is demand for this. Every school room in the country has a Data projector on the ceiling with a VGA cable piped down to the wall socket. There is so much potential for using Galaxy tabs in the class room if this VGA functionality could be exploited. Sorry for the essay. I just have a pain in my face looking for a VGA adapter.

Sorry, can I make a correction. I said Bituzz in the previous post. I was actually trying to refrer to the bizlink adapter mentioned above at this website : http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/bizlink, which has unfortunately been discontinued : (

Just click 'edit post' bottom right of what you have posted.

I think you'll need to combine the MHL->HDMI adapter with an HDMI->VGA+Audio adapter

HDFury 2 seems like it will fit the bill but is expensive (£150 from amazon)

Or you could try something like this:
http://avcables.ecrater.co.uk/p/7051726/hdmi-to-vga-converter-box-video
Or this? :
http://www.langtoninfo.co.uk/showitem.aspx?isbn=5412810139026

I would just try and buy both the MHL adapter and VGA adapter from somewhere that has a decent returns policy, if it doesn't work brilliantly.

One quick note - it appears with the new firmware on my device (2.3.4) it outputs audio through the headphone jack with the MHL adapter.
So this means you wont need the audio output on the VGA converter (just a headphone cable to your hifi inputs).
So.... you might get away with the MHL adapter and a cheaper HDMI to VGA converter without audio such as the original HDFury (~£60)
Your projector will need to be able to accept a 1080i VGA signal
