Hi all, Iam just in the waiting stage to get my new SGS2 on the 9th via upgrade from Orange so I thought id get a head a head start and join up here and get Kies installed on my laptop. Is there anything else I can do to help pass time ? Also am i right in saying i should also upgrade the software to the latest version and will this make it the original stock ROM and not Oranges modded one??

Well, we've passed 9th June but not into July yet, still a few weeks to go.

Yes update to the latest firmware version. If you use kies to update it will offer you the orange update, but if you use other means to flash new firmware you can go for stock firmware, if you go down this route you will void your warranty though.

To pass the time why not read the firmware update guides on the forum, that way you will have a good idea of the best way forward.

With any luck by the time you get the phone it might have the new 2.3.4 android firmware on it. We're all waiting on it.

Hi and thanks for the welcomes, yes I think i will have a good read through the tutorials etc on upgrading firmware , as for uninstalling Kies it looks good?? well saying that ive not used it so i cant really say can i ! Iam off to Bournemouth tomorrow morning so i might be late back to reply!!

Whoop Whoop, got the phone this morning, just doing a initial charge then iam going to have a play, am i right in saying that I9100XWKE1_I9100XXKDJ_I9100XEUKD1 is the latest version to flash too (yes i know iam invalidating the warrenty but i can always revert to original stock?) Iam on Orange have have downloaded the flash software and just downloading I9100xxKG1 also (Is this not necesary)

KG1 is the latest and the first 2.3.4 rom for this phone so that's the one you want, or a custom rom derivative if you want something a bit different.
