I got my S2 today and overall I am very pleased with it, I can see why it is so highly rated. However I personally got the phone so I can view cars on a car auction website on the move. The site is www.auctionview.co.uk, the car finding part of British Car Auctions website. Frustratingly, this site does not seem to work on the S2!! I am at my wits end as this is the site I use most on the move!! Everytime I try to view cars it sends me back to the log in site!!

Is there anyway of improving the phone's browser? Is it possible to go into settings to ensure the site thinks a computer rather than a phone is browsing the site? Is it possible to download another internet browser?

I accessed the site perfectly on a friend's iphone last year and it worked fine. I wrongly assumed the S2 would also be able to access the site. I bought the phone from an online company and signed for 2 yrs and I've already put the Sim in so I can't return the phone.

Type about:useragent into the address bar and switch to desktop should work. I think you have to redo this every time you restart the phone though. A more permanent solution might be to use something like Dolphin browser HD which I believe has a setting for this.

Edit: I would save about:useragent as a bookmark in the default browser to quickly set it when needed.

Yes, confirmed what mark22 said. Dolphin HD has a setting for the useragent, although I prefer Dolphin Mini.

Chrisp77, you've just got your phone, you need time to become acquainted. A lot of people find it frustrating at first but you can change most things to suit your needs, there are lots of browsers for you to sample and before long your iPhone friends will be second-best.

EDIT: Dolphin Mini has a setting for user agent as well. Just found it.
