I was updating my firmware for my samsung galaxy S, It was aprox 70% through and the cord came out, i ended up taking the battery out to get it off the other screen, and attempted to turn it onto saftey mode. Now all i can get is a screen with a phone symbol, a yellow! Symbol and a computer symbol. Nothing works, i cant continue with the update. Can anyone help me!?

Get your phone into download mode and try again. Press volume down home and power key all at once until the yellow downloading screen appears then reconnect to pc.
Pull battery out first to power off.

SAME thing happen to me yesterday. As swipermusic said: switch off the phone, and start in download mode then reflash the stock kernal and it will be alive again! I know what you're feeling!!! Don't flash the insecure kernal, it won't work!

What are you exactly flashing? KE7? Flash the actual stock kernal, which can be found here in the first post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278

Zakir, she's doing a standard official firmware upgrade from Kies I think. She won't be able to choose Kernels or anything else.

Claire if you have no luck and you don't want to return the unit to Samsung, then we can help you get back on track.

Let us know how you get on.

I'm wondering if it was 70%, would it have just been copying the new firmware before installing it?

Claire, can you get into the recovery menu? With the phone turned off, and with a bit of a stretch for your fingers, hold the volume up button and main home button (bottom middle), then press the power button.

Release only the power button when the screen comes on with the Galaxy S GT-i9000 text, then release the vol button and home button when (if) you get to a list of coloured text.

If you get that far, use the vol buttons to scroll to factory reset and the home button to select it. (if the home button doesn't select it, try the power button).
