Hi
Just got new SII last week.
As a former 3GS user, I am missing what appear to be 2 functions unavailable on the SII:
1 - the ability to select "shuffle" for random music play; and
2 - nusic settings (e.g. bass) are not retained, and have to be re-selected each time I start the music player again.
Is this just me not knowing where to look, or are those functions really not available on the SII?
Cheers.

I found these somewhere which may help.
1.Load Root Explorer. Go into System -> apps
2.Scroll down till you see the music player.apk file.
3.Select and hold down until a pop up appears.
4.Select "Rename"". Add .bak to the file, so it reads music player.apk.bak.
5.Select the file again as above, but now select move.
6.Press the back key until you go back to the system root (/) and then go go the SDcard folder.
7.Select Paste. You now have your original player backed up and safe if you wish to revert.
8.Now install the Music.apk.
9.Now install DSPmanager.apk.
Hope this is allowed, the music has shuffle and the dsp manager has an equaliser and bass boost.

In the inbuilt player in the now playing view, when the seek bar is displayed onscreen there is an icon with two intertwined arrows above the seek bar on the far left, press it and it will have a glow highlight, shuffle is enabled.
You should just get PowerAMP anyways, saves your EQ settings and has a pre-amp to increase volume output.

Thanks for the responses.
Since posting the original thread I found and installed "PlayerPro" and it instantly resolved both my issues with the SII.
Worth checking it out.
Cheers to those who viewed and responded.

Power amp is great, will have to have a look at player pro as well though.

You may want to use DSPmanager anyway, check out the thread on xda. Enabling extreme bass boost and putting all equaliserss on full except the second to last one does make the phone sound great.

Can the built in media player or any of the other players mentioned here remember the track and track location of MP3 files after the player is turned off? Most MP3 players do this. I can pause a long track, turn the player off, and when I turn it back on it resumes playing at the exact spot I left off. I have MP3 files that are over two hours long (operas, ballets, etc) and would really like to have this feature. I have not been able to do this with the Galaxy Media Player.
