Quadrant of 3828 isn't too bad for a stock rom I think :D Maybe I cheated as I have removed a alot of rubbish from Samsung. So this is from my own slimed down official SGSII rom.

Did you freeze some of the inbuilt apps with Titanium Backup? If so, which ones?

How do you remove the Samsung software, and which stuff did you remove? I'm quite fond of some of it though I can do without the hubs or "samsung apps" (which apparently always has updates).

Root access and Titanium Backup lets you remove them.

Cheers, already rooted so I'll grab Titanium. I wouldn't mind knowing which Samsung thing I *can* remove without negatively impacting the speed and/or stability of the system. I like most of it but as I said, I want to get rid of the social hubs and "Samsung apps". Will this affect my ability to use "Software update" in the Settings>About phone>Software update?

Sorry I'm a bit of an Android newb here..

No worries, check the SGSII forums at XDA-developers - there is a thread there about which ones are safe to remove. I'm Rooted, but haven't otherwise moved from stock yet since I'm doing a review for the Clove Blog, otherwise I could give you more advice.

Oh well that's just great, "Backup" on titanium doesn't actually backup the app, just the data associated with it. I backed up a few things then uninstalled them, but there's no way to restore.

Luckily it was nothing important.

EDIT: Scrap that, just found out that it doesn't list uninstalled apps unless you go into the filter and get it to only show backed up apps.

EDIT2: Appears not to work, just gets stuck on "Restoring App". Hmm..

I don't think Titanium backup can backup the official phone apps (Like music player, video player, calculator ect).

If anyone wants to remove these but wants a backup of them just in case, with a Root file Explorer goto < /system/app >and copy the ones you want to backup to sdcard:)

It seems to have backed up the .apks to /mnt/sdcard/titaniumbackup... can I just run them?

System apps you can just freeze with titanium. But if you want to remove them it would have been better to back them up using root explorer as said above. I'm not sure but to reinstall your system app back ups you might need to copy them to /system/app and run them there. I just froze music, social and game hub and a couple other things (mainly stuff that was in the widget selection to get them out the way) without issue.

Yeah I would have frozen them, only I didn't have the paid version. Lesson for next time, eh? :P

I'm working on a list, but uninstalled a heap of stuff. Some of which I dont know :( Phone is quicker and battery life ++ Touchwiz is frozen too and using Go launcher EX I frooze some iffy applications that might cause issues. So far so good, very stable.

Edit: yes I have the paid version. 100% worth it!

Decided to buy the app, freezing is so much better! Does anyone know why there's 2 Clock 1.0's? I can remove one of them and the clock app still works (so I can set alarms etc). Also I bet the main thing that led to your high score was the freezing of TouchWiz.

I've removed TW now and a few others after no errors with freezing. Odd that touchwiz on the SGS would lead to errors. Here no?

Strange - does the Samsung video player work with TW frozen? (for some reason I feel like I asked you that already in another thread, did I?)

Overclocked kernel now out for SGSII, quadrant > 4000.

Not sure as I uninstalled video and use rockplayer. But I think it did work before i removed it with touchwiz removed. I'll will try this, if i can get 3828 without clocking i will give this overclock kernel a go. I hope there is an undervolt kernel in the works. Loweting the volts will help with heat and battery life. Only if it stable of course is it practical.

They are for the twitter accounts and facebook login etc. I removed them and most of the samsung stuff. Apps. Ok so I used the new overclock kernel and setcpu.

Yeah when I overclocked my N900 to 900mhz, I undervolted it too and I got much better battery life than I did when it was stock settings (at 600mhz).

Hey I'd love to see your Quadrant score with the latest firmware which just came out today - apparently you get another couple of hundred in quadrant :)
