Before I return the phone to the shop still wondering if I am missing something simple ! I have tried various options but still when plugged into my Mac laptop still no storage devices to be seen. I have tried it using my wifes Windows 7 Laptop and Kies and storage devices can be seen and they work. Spoke to Samsung guy who said the storage devices should be visable on the Mac although Kies does not work with Mac's.
Any last chance saloon suggestions most welcome and they may possibly save my marriage.

Bootcamp? I know... but if marriage is at stake... Did you try all the connection modes? My PC sees the mass storage mode as KIES mode, so the soft is seriously screwed up :)

Did think about Bootcamp but that's more £££ to buy a copy of windows. Is yours a Mac or are you using Windows. I did try all modes and it didn't see storage on any.
Guess its possible I have a fault on the phone ??

I have two PC's, one 32 bit, one 64 bit, on both of them connection is far from perfect, but funny thing is it actually works better on 64 bit. I will try it tomorrow on Mac to see what will happen :)
It is hard to tell, but I don't think it is your peticular phone that is faulty, all this connection software seems to be a bit of rubbish, and I thought my ihone 3G was no good, boy was I wrong :) My friend works at Samsung, and from what I understand they work under enormous pressure to release products, and this products are not as polished as we customers would like to see them (but this is true with any company nowadays I guess).
I ended up copying stuff through ftp, I guess it will work fine with Mac as well - I use SwiFTP (and you don't need a cable :) )

Mine the same thing.. my macbook unibody simply does not detect it, while my samsung said it was connected and mounted..
So no further problem solving for this huh?

Interesting to see how many people are having problems with Kies.
Not had a single issue with it, running it on Vista 32bit.
Its obviously not going to work with a Mac, nothing works with a Mac, stupid things. :( But they sure do look pretty lol
Strange that you'd be having problems with Windows 7, maybe Kies just isn't compatible with later versions or higher bit versions of windows :(

Let's face it, Kies is a piece of @#$%. I have a netbook running Windows 7 32 bit to get around the incompatibilities of my main 64 bit laptop. It only cost a couple of hundred bucks and it's awesome for travel - slow but so portable.

Well seems like a lot of people have this phone and agreed its a nice bit of kit. There must be people out there who have installed a 16gb mini micro card and then put music films and photos. So what's the best way.....??? Starting to think maybe put the card into a usb adapter plug into Macbook, drag items then card back into phone, not exactly easy living. Looking at SwiFTP but a little unsure about what settings I should use ( feel free to jump in here ) ? Then of course install Windows ( but what version) ?
Or I could always go back to my old phone !!
Thanks

Yes, taking the SD card and dropping stuff on it, using usb adapter, from your Mac will be the fastest way, but not very modern one :)
SwiFTP, just use default settings, create any username and password, then on your mac you need some sort of free ftp client (Filezilla) in which you will put in settings that SwiFTP displays after you start it, that is IP number and port ie. 192.168.2.111:2121 and use username and password you created on your phone and it should work fine.
