can i use the update file here to root my phone

im right in thinking that installing a cutom rom will root the phone as well
then i can install the following apps
SetCPU
Titanium Backup

and so on

all this might be taboo but the apps i see online from torrent sites are they safe to install can you install them,

There is a MoDaCo R2 ROM also (newer than R1). I'm using R2 and I'm very happy with it. Yes, installing a custom ROM will root your phone automatically.

Don't try to flash R2 over the firmware you have, it's not officially supported!

No pirate versions are ever really safe, not for computers and not for phones... If you want to be absolutely safe, you must buy all the software you're going to use. Of course, if you want to be completely safe you should not be thinking about flashing anything else but Samsung official firmwares!

hello thank you for the advice will join as a full member and download jg1 install that then install r2 i downloaded jg1 and r2 howver i think it was the free version as am i tight in think rebaked means all made ready to install to phone like the jg1 rom

i have joined the site and paided the 9,99,i have download the jg1 whicj was a rar i rename that update and put on phone then restart while holding the power and volume down,then install the update

the r2 i got was in folders can i get a verison like the jg1 already made to flash,i clicked the micro wave but might have missed a link else where for it

had a look on MoDaCo site i have downloaded the r2 i get 3 folders inside,but i can not find a jg1 for my f/w my baseband verison is i9000xxjfs i can find all other baseband but not mind can i use a similar one thank you for any help

sorry i must seem a dumb ass,the jg1do i rename that update the rar that is,and the r2 do i also rename that update after i have installed jg1
if thats the case i can just use the phone itself to update reather than use software based is that right
