Hey guys,

Just recently bought the 1930mAh battery from ebay and gotta say, it is pretty damn good.

The values below are from normal/minimal use. Will do a heavy use test after to confirm that.

Been on 21 Hours and is on 90%
Been on 46 Hours and is on 80%
Been on 64 Hours and is on 70%
Been on 74 Hours and is on 60%
Been on 88 Hours and is on 50%
Been on 95 Hours and is on 40%
Been on 120 Hours and is on 30%
Been on 127 Hours and is on 20% - Hmmm, anything over 35C, with use and this battery drops like a stone, was in a very warm place at the time lol
Been on 136 Hours and is on 10%
Been on 141 Hours and is on 0%

Not bad result from my end to be honest. 141 Hours normal/minimal use.

Takes 2Hours 15Mins to charge....very simular to stock battery!

Stock battery heavy test result: 3 hours
Gold battery Heavy test results: 5 hours

Firmware im on is JPY - Insanity v0.4.0 ROM

many more sellers on this guys, so plenty of stock around.

Its the same size as the 1500mAh one which is nice, didnt fancy a bigger phone lol

Sounds too good to be true and it's usually too good to be true. I was reading up on this battery and there's a site someone was having a bad time with this battery and took the gold sticker out and shows that it's only a 750mAH battery =[

The battery looks like the same battery my folks got in their Sci-phone when they went to Japan. They might be quite prone to exploding like they do in the Sci-phone, could explain the talk on XDA about the explosion symbol?

Mines just arrived, The gold wrap around label looks as though a kid has put on, so decided to see if I could peel it off and see if there was any writing underneath, got it off in one piece and there is no writing at all. Was able to put the label back again. I only did this because I read some where that these batteries are not 1930mAh, but are 750mAh, need to find away to check it.

well anything with a higher frequency is usually more unstable, thats why samsung isnt putting out anything higher than 1500 milliampere, but i personally wouldnt worry enough to stop me from buying the phone, the thing is, batteries with a higher frequency have a higher discharge rate, so a 1930 milliampere-hour battery has a much higher resistance than a 1500 mah battery, so while it has more capacity to start off with, its higher discharge rate puts more juice than normal into the phone, in the end the batteries large capacity makes up for its higher discharge rate, giving you a longer battery life, but gives it at a abnormally high frequency through its whole usage, this is where it becomes less stable, and is more prone to overheating/ over volting. of course ways to make up for this would be make the battery physically bigger, or from put better a frequency driver in place, that can handle the higher frequency, and make the discharge more stable. but since the battery is made in china and "100% BRAND!" i doubt thats the case.

That sounds very dodgy to me Richard, I wouldnt use it if I were you it sure doesnt sound "genuine". If they were genuine surely Samsung or their dealers would sell them dont you think?

So far so good to be honest, if you check the first post, im updating on results by percentage - That is under normal use, wifi/3G etc
Will be doing a fast drain test once ive fully tested how long it takes to go under normal use. i.e Everything on - GPS/Wi-fi or 3G, Brightness up etc!

But seriously so far so good :-D no complaints here!

Hmm don't know, maybe its a good idea to backup everything and to unroot your phone. Once its melted its gonna be hard to unroot it, even with adb... When you go over to the stress test please try 45-60 minutes of video play and then look the temperature of the battery, if its 20% higher than stock battery... wouldn't be nice and your phone could get destroyed over a half to two years... @Samsung: Next galaxy series please with SuperAmoled 2+ and solar capacity, thanks... ;-)

Well, im updating every 10% on the first post of this thread.

atm, 52% and been on 85 Hours
Battery temperature is varying when in use from 20C ~ 30C - Around the same as the stock to be honest, got the stock battery to 45C once, so all is well so far :D
So far though, only doing minimal/normal use, see how long it lasts, once thats finished, i will be doing a very heavy test to see how good it is then.

As promised, here is an update on the gold battery 1930mAh.
Fully charged at 3.39pm yesterday. have used phone's wifi for about 10 minuets yesterday, made 1 call and received 1 call. Went to bed last night and put phone into flight mode untill 7.30 this morning. Other than these things I haven't used the phone for anything else and the battery is now showing at 43% after 24 hours. based on that this battery will only last for about 2 days which is no better than the standard battery the phone came with.
So I think I will contact the seller and see about getting a refund, don't see the point in keeping it if it's not going to last any longer that the standard battery.

To anyone in general, if you get a new battery wouldn't you have to wipe the battery stats? Not sure if this could be contributing to usage you got?

Got mine battery yesterday too, charged it up to 100% last night, unplugged this morning and deleted the battery stat. After 8 hours now it is down to 41%. It is pretty much same as my original battery but the thing is when I first got it yesterday, it shows 70% charged so I will let it drain out completely today and charge it from 0 to make sure that the phone will calculate the battery correctly. I will report again tomorrow see how it goes.

Yeah I think you should return it too, see if you can get your refund. I was looking to get a higher capacity battery because I thought my phone battery sucked because it wouldn't last more than a day when I first got the phone. After a few charges it has gotten better. I'm on stock battery and I let mine go all the way to 0% till phone turns off then fully charge overnight. Did that a couple of times and now the battery seems to last longer than when I first got the phone last Friday. I unplugged my phone around 7am and throughout the day I made a few calls, sent/received few texts, played angry bird for a while, listened to pandora for an hour or so while I was at the gym and battery was by the end of the night it was at 50something%. So I played angry birds some more till it got to 50% then I went to bed with phone left on. In the morning it was at 46% and sort of the same usage throughout the rest of yesterday and by the end of the night I had about 15% left. I played angry birds for a while till the phone turned off on its own then I recharge overnight again.

Hi swipermusic, I think if I'm honest I was to, but it was worth ago, it could have been a bargain. Still I suppose some one had to try it. No there not genuine or may be there genuine fakes haha.
I get between 2.5 and 3 days out of my standard battery any way so I shouldn't complain.

When I first got the phone, the beginning of last July I did the battery conditioning, charge it flatten it charge it flatten it. I did this for the first couple of weeks and it did make a big difference.

I have gone through ebay for the refund, it has been agreed so that's sorted now, just have to post it back.

lol - this keeps getting better and better!

Strange with the results guys, i havent had any problems, if anything opposite :-S This doesnt make any sense lol

41% and been on 94 Hours @ 23C
Batt Voltage is @ 3815mV

Got mine from DigiTech, something like that, but from ebay.

You reckon there are fakes and genuines of these models and i have just gotten lucky :-S will be doing heavy stress on it in around 2-days looking at this battery discharge.
But its really strange how ive yielded very good results, been on wi-fi, 3g, browsed the web, watched youtube videos etc.

Dont know about anyone else but i have black wallpaper, no apps running in background, dont use any task killer, no lag fixes applied, i do have SO Kernel with battery tweaks applied, that is meant to provide better battery life.
On original Darky ROM, same use i only got 86 Hours/3+ days, that was with stock battery, so, already this battery is better than original for me :-S
Plus on Insanity ROM, which is apparently better than Darkys ROM with battery life.

I bought mine from the link you supplied, so I guess it must be the same guy. I've just had a look on the invoice and it's from Brit Tel UK. As I said in my post after 24 hours it was down to 43%, that's no better that my standard battery, in fact it's some what worse.

Hope you carry on with good results Pidz

On the back of the blister pack the battery was in, where does it say your's is made? the one I have is made in China

Just been back to the page on ebay, something's not right here, he go's under the name of DigiTech, but on his paper work it says Brit Tel UK, and it clearly states the battery is made in Japan.

I think it did say china aswell dude. Will take out once depleted and let you know for sure.

Just find it strange that for me it was around 89% after 24 :-S and for you it was over half gone!

Something is a miss here!!! Will also be able to tell you for sure about the capacity of the battery, should take longer to charge this one, stock battery for me takes around 2~2.5 Hours to fully charge up, so should take around 3+ hours to charge this i would have thought.

Did right with the refund in your case though!

Just find it really odd :-S lolz

The fact it says Japan on his ebay page and China on the packaging is not right, I wonder how many people have picked that up.

Tiptronic said his was already charged to 70%, mine had a charge of 30%, your getting good results, I wasn't. All very strange.

The made in China is on the back of the blister pack it came in not on the battery, would be interesting to know for sure if yours is made in China

I have the same result as Richardj. I flatten mine yesterday and charged on power charger with the phone switch off. I unplugged it before I went to bed, cleared battery stat and reboot. After 10 hours with hardly any activity it is now down to 71%. Although my phone doesn't seems right possibly need a better rom/modem but look at the rate it goes, it definitely won't be able to beat the stock battery. I already sent the seller a message and will arrange the refund as soon as he replied back.

Pidz

Damn guys, hoped this would be a wonder battery for us, but if anything the opposite.
Hardly any activity and down to 71% thats bad!!!

Mine overnight has dropped 2%. I cant get over how weird it is lol

It simply cant be that we're on different ROMs, not that much of a difference anyway, would expect small % differences, not 30%~50% differences. Batterys must be fubbard.

At the moment for me, normal/minimal use beats stock, but if the heavy test i do falls up short i'll be sending it back.

Heavy test on stock usually got me around 3 hours! which was GPS, HSDPA on, brightness max, and constant navigation on.

We shall see :D.........Think ive just got really lucky with this one!!!

tiptronic
01-15-2011, 11:05 AM
@Pidz So in general, how much longer do you actually gain from this battery compare to the stock one?

I am not expecting to have the same result as you as I also suspect there could be is something else not right with my current rom. But without changing any settings or install any apps, I expect the battery should give me more than the stock one which clear this is not the case for me at the moment.

Pidz
01-15-2011, 02:23 PM
To be honest, i was expecting around 25% more and it is delivering so far.

Original stock battery, was on darkys ROM v8.0 before, i got 88 Hours tops with my day-day use.
Gold battery, on Insanity 0.4.0 ROM, usual day-day use i've been on 115 hours and has 33% left.

Well results are;

Stock battery normal use: 88 Hours
Gold battery normal use: 141 Hours

Stock battery heavy use: 3 Hours
Gold battery heavy use: 5 hours

Results are good but from the experiences of tiptronic and Richardj, probably best to stay away from these ebay batteries, although i had very good results, i think i got lucky from a good batch of batteries. Whereas tiptronic and Richardj did not, far from good results, worse than stock battery.

So, up to you guys, i would recommend it, but chances of getting a good battery like myself maybe slim.

I now have Darky's v8.0 Gingerbread edition (android 2.3.1)and with original

I mean this rom is an battery saving one.

So unless you all have the same rom,you can not compare.

Results are still pretty good.

I've been applying a new technique to charging which is called "jump-charging", read it at the XDA.
Its where you have the phone off, reach 100%, take out the charger, put it back in, it will start charging for a bit longer, do this until your phone says its 100% when you plug it in for the 5th time usually in my case.
With this method, even on JPY, battery says 100% for about 10mins.

Got mine yesterday. Made in China, first charge was 71%. Temperature is good, on standby 24°C on video and gametime 36-40°C so everything fine so far... But the voltage keeps switching from 3800 mV to 4200mV and I can only charge to 95% and it jumps then to 100%, one minute later its on 95 again. But You can charge more and after another half hour its on 99%... Will report when I get my next results...

This battery is total crap. First time it was at least as durable like stock, but now you can forget it completely. I can almost see the battery draining. 2 hours video => over 50% battery loss... Wifi on and playing 2 hours bubble blast will cost you from 83% to 37%... I try a last time to charge it completely and to delete battery stats (which is almost impossible, after it says its full and you unplug you have 93%... need to charge another 30 minutes...)... And no there are no programs in background raping the battery, no gps no 3G no auto sync no googlemail and the biggest battery raper is pro launcher with 1.12%. Display is only on 20%.

One thing that I don't understand is that everybody says his display costs around 35-60% if you look under settings. My says always its on 95% or a bit less if wifi and standby activated... Maybe my display is broken and sucks now my battery?

I think all the percentage is adding up to 100%. Most of the time I have over 90% on display and the rests are only less than 5% and today i had quite a few phone calls, so now my Voice Calls suddenly goes up to 47% while my display is now dropped down to 26%.

thats also how my thoughts work. I just thought, because I had from beginning really problems with battery. I mean I deactivated already everything, now even use a black wallpaper and the most battery using app is pro launcher with 1.17% which is a perfect result... But nevertheless I have to charge it everyday, there's something wrong. Forget to charge it over night and it will cost you another 25-30% and your battery is almost gone... something wrong, well last test like described in my previous post...

almost two hours after charging completely full and wipe stats I'm on 77%... Wifi on, Display 20%. 15 minutes market, 4 minutes augmented reality, playing 20 minutes the IQ test... This an not acceptable result. WIll now charge this battery to 100% and change with stock. I'm not ready using a not branded battery which keeps me getting worser results as with stock and risking the chance to set my phone on fire... Next battery please...
