@rossdude Hi, Froyo has just been launched and can be downloaded for Kies. I don't have any information on other updates I'm afraid.

Maybe, read the threads about updating with kies, there are a few which could help you, or use odin :)

There is a newer version of Froyo 2.2, which is Froyo 2.2.1.

For those of you that are having trouble with Kies, why don't either use Odin or use the Reg Hack for Kies?

I never managed to make Kies update itself to the newer versions. In my opinion whenever a new version is released you are better uninstalling, and re-installing.
I'm on Orange, and upgraded to 2.2.1 a few weeks ago using Kies (no hacking). Only used it for a week or so then flashed with Darkyys ROM which was much faster, and more importantly, didnt ruin my battery life.

If you want to keep it official dude.

You can force the update for orange by using the Kies reg patcher. It will activate a test mode for you to see the update and proceed.

Firstly type: *#1234# and type down here what you see.

Kies says ....

This version of the device cannot be updated
Current firmware version : PDA:JF3 / PHONE:JF3 / CSC:JE5 (ORAJE5 on phone)

I am really not comfortable in trying to go down the Odin route myself. I'm not that teckkie and would probably get impatient and end up with a bricked phone lol

Have you read one of the guides to flash the firmware via Odin? Might boost your confidence, could be easier than you think.

I am techie minded but have never owned an SGS before and already bricked my phone when trying to flash via odin without using a guide. Using Goots' guide which has full explanation, links to required downloads and enough re-assurance I managed to sort my second phone out. Even when I bricked my phone I could've recovered it, just easier to get a replacement.

I have since flashed my phone another 3 times and my mates twice.
