On your phone memory (sdcard, mite work on external sd) create a folder called 'Ringtones' then place your ringtone into that folder and it should work :)

You can place music files anywhere on the SGS and the phone will pick it up. You can also choose to select ringtones from the music player.

For Tufftoads advice:

- open internal music player
- play the ringtone you want
- while playing touch the left menu button and select "Set as"
now you can directly set it as your ringtone or at least put it to the ringtone library
