Hi, according to this forum:
http://forum.vodafone.co.uk/topic/66101-samsung-galaxy-s-sync-only-my-contacts/
seems that there's no way to sync just "My Contacts" from Google contacts. This is a feature found in standard Android 2.1 so i really don't understand why TouchWiz has removed this feature..
Is there a way to replace TouchWiz contacts with the standard Android Contacts?
Any other ideas/workaround (beside not using google sync and sync with activesync)?

No,
when you browse Google contacts with a PC (go to gmail.com then select Contacts) you can see "My Contact" and "All Contacts". Seems that GalaxyS sync the whole "All Contacts".
In Plain old Android 2.1 you can select to sync only "My Contacts".
This is quite annoying because "All Contacts" contain all email you ever write a mail to..

The Samsung Galaxy S does not show the groups you create on google accounts (or in google apps accounts) neither it shows any option to restrict the groups to show or contacts to show (only contacts with phone number...).
I hope they solve this issue since the whole list of contacts is unbearable in the phone, it syncs every contact you have ever sent an email...

I fully agree. Also the option to "unsync" contacts would be nice since right now I don't know of any way to get rid of them. The Galaxy S also imported my facebook contacts twice which makes it hard to read as well.
Hope that's coming with the Froyo update... I got a Vibrant.

Well, the groups _are_ there (i.e. get sync'd) but they're jsut not shown using the std contacts app. Use aContacts which does show the groups. Plus: It's free.
It can also assign ringtones to the google groups. a really good app IMHO...
