: GPS TEST results?

After downloading GPS TEST in the market I ran a GPS test from work to home to see that for the majority of the time the accuracy reading was mostly at the 32 feet, sometimes 16ft and ranged up to 164ft.

Throughout there was a lock on several satellites, but it was a relatively short trip of 15 minutes.

Would this be representative of other users? I am genuinely interested due to the variation of comments on this forum, the vodafone forum and the XDA forums.

I am currently running JM1

geoyouknow, I believe you are tackling one of the many issues SGS has for gps.

I think majority of the gps concern is - we don't even get the bloody lock with one satellite! I sit in my room, beside a big window, and I don't even get one. I stick the phone out the window, THEN it finds me. Mind you, I live in the city. I believe Froyo added that "something sensor thing" to improve connection with satellites and what not, but it didn't fix our lock issue.

I sometimes wonder if people are just expecting too much. I have a Tom Tom Sat Nav and that has major difficulties when indoors but no problems outside.

Haha. Well - its expected since they published their product with "GPS Abilities".

Nonetheless - they improved it for JPO/JPA.

Though I'm not much of a GPS person yet - since I bus to school and I hardly go away from home... I really don't need it that much. LOL. I think it's one of those "I like to have features - and use it when I need it". Kind of like... CAA or AAA (if you live in North America).

I have found it interesting how on JF3, my phone would not search for satellites; JM1 it got marginally better, and with JPO I have now stopped using my standalone sat nav and use my galaxy s with Co-pilot.
Since JPO I have always had a lock within seconds and when testing with MyTracks I am always accurate within an acceptable error. After my original post I have come across threads on the XDA forums with several hundred posts. There obviously is an issue with the gps. I have to be lucky that I have had such a success with JPO considering how much a 18/24 month contract costs.

My accuracy reading is normally only 32 feet, some times 16ft. But its very rare. I'm on JPA Doc's custom rom 7.2
