Same here, gets to 50% and just sits there. I think I'll stick with my existing version which works with no problems.

I'm sure someone will upload a full standalone version shortly.

Just posted this in another thread. Not sure if it is but it is supposed to be the newest.

Whats so special aboutr a kies update, what major difference has there been since the the very first version and the latest version. What is needed is updates for the phone such as the latest Froyo software not useless garbage pc software which is what Kies is generally regarded as.

I'm on FroYo without having used Kies to update my firmware.. Odin works very well for that.

Kies has it's upsides as well though, I use it to back up my contacts.

I can get Kies to load ok and it sees my phone but i cant do anything else. Every icon i select says that it can perform that command because the phone is in use, please stop using the phone and try again........

Anyone else had this on this or anyother version??

Unfortunately.... Kies is required to update to froyo...

What do I do then, if/when FroYo comes out if I want to upgrade? I have Apple Macintosh computers.

My mate with a Desire got his FroYo update OTA.

Most little independent phone shops update firmware for you for £10. My local one has a sign up already for the galaxy s and other high end smart phones that for £10 he will update to 2.2. £15 though for the dell streak and they have only just released 1.6.

That's a bit naughty of him as 2.2 isn't officially out yet ;)

Selling beta software is a bit cheeky imho!

Gotta give him credit for using initiative though.

What would be nice with these updates would be able to get on the Samsung app store using Kies!!!

Do the little shops offer you insurance or a guarantee for the case when they break your phone? I don't mind breaking my own phone (well, I do, but you know)... But if I'm paying for a service and /they/ break my phone, I'd want something done about it.

I think I know exactly what would happen in that instance, and that's why I wouldn't go down that route.

You got the apps on your phone, what's the point of having them via Kies? :) Samsung app store is made for Samsung Omnia II and Samsung Wave.

Yes its an easy way out if you are a bit scared of doing it. I used one to debrand/flash my tocco ultra and install route 66 navigation, was worth a tenner to save me the trouble and the phone was great afterwards.
