Hi
I have a galaxy S unlocked but was branded as orange, I looked at *#1234# anf got firmware and flashed with BUJG2 PDA BUJG1 and now it has csc gsfrjg2, so branding is even worse than orange (at least that was uk) now its French SFR. ggggrrrrrr.
Please help, can I flash with a different firmware? I have tried to root (it worked and put ninja there but CSC file stayed red.
many thanks in advance

Yes you can, if you are using Odin you can flash to pretty much any you want, Froyo Firmware has some limitations and in some cases needs another firmware first before flashing but all pior to that is fine.

Just wondering when you flashed the firmware 1# did you remove the sim card before flashing? and 2# are you using a Orange SIM card with the branded/unbranded Orange phone?

Hi
thanks for reply, Phone was originally branded Orange but was unlocked by orange - I used my O2 sim in it no problem, I flashed it without the sim card in the galaxy s.
thanks

Hey Key I notice the csc file you use is an SFR one which may explain why your phone defaulted to french. Basically the csc file is french Vodafone.

Hi
I have done this now, and the same, everything works, using my wifi etc but wont use sim, recognises my sim as orange or O2 (depending on which one I put in) but when I try to use it it says that I cannot - please can somebody let me know if
1) I have done something wrong while flashing and maybe locked it to a foreign sim or something or need to change settings somewhere.
2) am an idiot
3) or my phone has been IMEI locked - I did buy it secondhand 2 weeks ago jeeez.
thanks

Some firmwares have been known to change the IMEI of the phone, you should do a search on XDA Devs forum. There might be a way to change it back, but as it's illegal to change an IMEI we won't discuss that here.

If it you are within 45 days of buying the phone with a paypal account raise a dispute and tell the seller you want your money back or you will inform the police. I have actually spoken to Paypal customer service about a different matter (exploding charger!) and they actually raised the dispute for me. If you are out of your 45 day period write the seller an email threatening small claims court action and damages and costs and and and. You would be suprised the number of people that are incrediblt rude about giiving a refund that fold and become your friend (WELL not that friendly) when you mention small claims court and they think they may be paying damages, costs etc.
HOPE IT ALL GOES WELL.

The worry here is that it was working before the firmware flash, so not really a returns issue.

The other thing about being ripped for £300, it was probably you that changed the phone to a blocked IMEI by "flashing night after night" as you put it.

On your dialler keypad dial *#06#, is your IMEI by any chance 004999010640000 (or anything starting with 0049) ??
