Has anybody who has seen the Samsung Galaxy S firmware code and drivers for its GPS, know if there is something in their firmware which denies the underlying Android OS from using Satellites with a Signal Strength of 20 or less?
I've noted when using GPS Test from Charcross from the Android Market, that the Galaxy S, as well as losing signal left right and centre, not even locking onto some high signal strength satellites, losing connection, gaining connection, bouncing between two satellites as if it can only lock onto eight, that among this....
THE SAMSUNG GALAXY S does not show any orange bars for a signal strength of 20 or less. Unlike the HTC G1 or HTC Desire of which I've seen first hand actively does have lots of orange bars and maintains a stable lock.
This is either:
bad design hardware
faulty firmware
faulty phone
I don't want to return the phone and get the same problem as before.
Can someone confirm if they see a bug in the XXJF3 firmware? Perhaps there's a 20 hardcoded somewhere.
