Anyone know if/when the official dock for the SGS is coming out. I seen it in an official video before I got the phone, but have never seen it to buy.

From what I heard, Samsung only made demos of accessories such as Car docks for shows
to rev up interest from 3rd party Handset accessory makers.

I doubt that they'll actually mass produce accessories for the Galaxy S themselves
(especially with them creating different version for each damn carrier)

Right now your only option is shady Chinese OEM accessories that you have to use at your own risk.

That sucks.

Samsung announced teh car dock and Cahrging Dock (with Spare battery) about a month ago. They are not released yet, but please find below a URL for a site that lists them (though they are not in stock).

Nice to see official Samsung gear pop up here an there (although none of them seems to be available
except the bland docking stations that were given to the carriers by Samsung to sell or bundle them with the phone)

But to be specific, for North Americans, RIGHT NOW, we are left to our own devices, ie) Chinese sketchy products.


I know for a fact that the Samsung's mobile departments in US and Canada are really struggling right now
to create and implement ideas to make SGS accessories widely available in the market.

It's most likely they wanted a strong following via the 3rd party accessories market, such as shown by Apple products.
However, I think they screwed themselves over in the accessories department by creating different versions of
the phone, making it not so cost effective for accessory makers to invest in mass production of SGS accessories...
For example, in the accessory manufactures point of view, "why pay 4~5 times to create 4~5 SEPARATE manufacturing lineups
to manufacture total of 1mil units of docks for the various SGS phones out there, when I can just pay once to create
a single manufacturing lineup to manufacture a total of 3mil units of the SAME dock for the iPhone 4"

That's why I don't think we'll see much of a "official/reliable accessories aftermarket" for Samsung in North America,
and we'll be left to our own daring of trying out accessories via the internet from, firstly, East Asia and lastly from Europe. :(


Then again, at least 1/2 of the no name items from China are decent enough :p

I like the samsung desktop dock, surely a 3rd party manufacturer must release a clone of it soon, especially if we have no dates from Samsung.

The desktop dock I seen on the Samsung video was a sideways one.

So no official dock yet, although in the Samsung Apps, there is an app to turn the phone into an alarm clock when put into the dock.

There is an offical desk mount available. Its supposed to allow connection to a hi-fi via a 3.5mm jack but I dont seem to be able to get it to work.

The SGS has to be Froyo 2.2 minimum. Mine is 2.2.1 and rooted but the sound will not come out of the hi-fi. Just the phones speaker.
Anyone else got the desk dock/mount and got it to work as it should?

I bought this Desktop Dock for Galaxy S from a vendor on eBay. I have my phone upgraded to 2.2. It does not work with the audio out jack on the Desktop Dock. I called Samsung and they didn't even know what a Desktop Dock was. I have version 2 of the Desk Home software install and it still doesn't work.

Mine works without a problem. Version 2.2, dock it and the sound comes out. It is not for headphones (bad quality) but as a line out.
