I just want to say hello.
I was a Desire owner for three months before a few niggles with the handset really started to annoy me!
I decided to take the plunge and change to a Galaxy S, and all I can say is wow!
Its a stunning phone and Im loving using it!

I came very very close to buying the Desire, but since I like gaming I decided to wait for the "better" GPU of the Galaxy S...
Thinking of getting my wife a Desire for Christmas though, so I got curious... Mind sharing your thoughts about the ups and downs of the Desire? I'm mainly interested in the downs... :p

Good - Nice build quality, LED is handy for the camera, HTC sense is lovely
Bad - Battery life is terrible (very rarely lasted more than 10 - 12 hours, and often much less, and thats with background data off, no live wallpapers etc), Screen can have a noticably pinkish tint to it, Touch screen isnt as accurate as some, often hitting links etc when zoomed out was difficult, 720 video recording quality was a big dissapointment.
Its not a bad phone by any means, but I just wasn't happy with it for the above reasons!

OK, thanks for the answers. :)
I think that you will find battery life is not all that great on the SGS either... If you find battery life is bad, try the Desire battery booster trick: http://www.eurodroid.com/2010/08/htc-desire-battery-life-booster-trick/
and reset batterystats like so: http://hemorrdroids.net/battery-calibration/

From what Ive found so far, the Galaxy's battery life is better than the Desire's. I expect to have to charge any sort of smartphone nightly, but least the Galaxy manages to last through a day in work without dying on me lol.
I also forgot to mention the speaker on the Desire is poor. Again there's only so much quality you can expect from a mobile, but I found it distorted too much, especially when being used on speaker phone.
Sweet i nearly got me a Desire but landed on the SGS square instead :)
Oh and Welcome to the fun house (Mad)
