Hi everyone.

I have a SGS that was bought in Malaysia. It is unlocked but is branded to "Starhub" which I think is a Singapore telco..?

I live in the UK and would like to know if it is possible to flash the phone with a 'XX' firmware and replace the 'DX' one that is there now? - and also remove the Starhub applications and shutdown screen.

Many thanks for any help people can give.

Regards, Paul

Thanks for that systemX.

I had read that but was worried about the advice to stick to the same market code (DX/XX). I don't want to brick the phone!

"Download the selected Galaxy S Firmware you require. You will have to register on Samsung-Firmwares.com. Be careful and download only a suitable firmware. For example if your current firmware is i9000XXJF2 stick to i9000XXxxx firmware. XX European DX = Asian markets"

What is "AP set"?

Cheers. :)

I'm curious because you said you bought the phone in Malaysia but it is branded with Starhub which is from Singapore, meaning its an underwater set.. You Malaysian? lol

Underwater set?

Starhub does mobiles, TV, broadband, landlines etc. www.starhub.com

Would like to make it UK if possible, and debrand. Would just like to know if it is safe, i.e. has anyone done something similar with this phone and not had problems.

Cheers,

Yeah, I've got an Australian phone that was originally on I9000DTJF1 and have flashed to the European firmwares and a Canadian one. They all worked fine - no brick :-D. Just leave the USA firmwares alone (captivate FW will brick it I believe)
