Ive just got a couple of questions about Rooting my Galaxy S, is it easy to do - what are the chances of damaging my phones software etc? I would like to root it to change stuff like the battery icon at the top, change things on the homepage/Apps Menu i Dont know if i need to upgrade the firmware while im there i used *#1234# and running JF1 dont know if thats a stable quick firmware or if there is one thats better?
Any help would be much appreciated

Rooting, is it easy to do ? YES, Just follow the Instructions,
Chances of damaging phones software? Little, if you don't go messing about and Follow the Instructions,

Having a rooted phone would be required with some apps which mite do what you want, you'll have to search,

Read the reviews on each firmware to see what mite be best for you and test it :)

Easiest way to root you phone is to use RyanZA's one click lag fix from the market, plus you can do the lag fix at the same time
