Hi! I'm planning on buying an SGS and would like to ask some things from experienced modders.

1. What's the difference between this Samsung Android OS versus the stock Android OS? What are the bloatware? Can I remove those? TouchWiz is the only one I know and that can be removed by installing LauncherPro.

2. Can I manually install Froyo or the upcoming Gingerbread when it comes out and still keep the legit Swype app installed? It's one of the main reasons I'm buying a smartphone

I was thinking of buying a Nexus One but then opted out found out it can't use Swype anymore due to the expiration of the beta. SwipeIT costs money and Screenwriter is not as sleek as Swype.

Thanks!

well Touchwiz would be the big difference, the apps swipe right to left instead of a long scrolling list. and it has 4 main homescreen buttons, Phone, Contacts, Messaging< Applications. but of course you dont need to use touchwiz, many of use use one of the custom launchers, such as launcher pro. also another difference is the drop box, when you drag it down, instead of it being blank, it gives you an option to tap wifi on/off, bluetooth, GPS, and vibration mode, all with a tap. the menu is slightly different, such as the addition of a built in setting for wifi tethering.

the bloatware is mostly stuff added by your carrier (if you buy it from them), and you can easily remove that by flashing a stock firmware. there is some bloatware that comes on the phone, most are useful, music player, picture viewer, file viewer, market, ect. but there is some crap they throw in, some people use it i guess, daily briefing, a book store, samsung apps. all of it total is about a page an a half of apps, so maybe 30 apps total?

yeah you can manually install any firmware, they all have legit swype. theres even a froyo out for the phone now, its a test froyo, but it has full flash and everything else that comes with it (all with legit swype).

swype is amazing btw
